Good Food Battle Creek is a group of organizations and individuals working together to promote healthy food choices through education, support of local producers, and create access to good food for all people.
What We Do
Our shared vision is that all residents have access to and are knowledgeable about affordable, fresh and nutritious food, and healthy lifestyles.
Work ranges from supporting good food businesses/entrepreneurs and strengthening our food system through an emphasis on racial equity, to promoting good food initiatives and other institutional/governmental policies related to health and wellness. We also serve as a channel of support to other existing work happening in the Battle Creek food system.
Supporting Agents of Change
As in many cities across the U.S., there are communities in Battle Creek that lack access to good, healthy food and suffer from food injustice. Good Food Battle Creek partners with residents and groups who are taking actions to address food system issues and effect positive change.
The Opportunity
To assist organizations and residents of Battle Creek to organize around common goals for the community’s well-being, Good Food Battle Creek (GFBC) was formed to facilitate sharing and collaboration between those groups. GFBC has members from all segments of the food system community, from traditional social justice organizations to urban and traditional farmers to food safety experts. Fair Food Network is assisting GFBC in promoting healthy food choices through education, support of local producers, and access to good food for all people.
